FOREST, SILENCE, AND SURVIVAL
Picture the year 1823.
No coffee shops.
No roads.
No plan.
There is forest. A lot of forest.
And there are a few families who decided:
“Well… let’s try living here.”
Bradford didn’t begin as a dream – it began as a necessity.
People cut down trees, built houses, kept warm, survived.
No one was thinking about oil.
No one was thinking about the future.
The task was simple: survive the winter.
The city’s first name was Littleton.
Small. Modest. Almost toy-like.
And everything would have been fine – if a couple of decades later huge money hadn’t started being made here.
In 1854, the residents looked around and realized:
- We are no longer “little.”
- We need a more serious name.
That’s how Bradford appeared.
And this name withstood everything that came next.
You’ll learn more at the next checkpoint.
